Come on in, folks, I’m serving up generous helpings of humble pie.
Like most Springbok rugby fans, I went into Saturday’s match against the all-conquering All Blacks fearing the worst.
Two early tries and a 12-0 deficit, and I was already fearing a repeat of last year’s 57-0 humbling. Then, against massive odds, the Boks put on an incredible defensive display, and managed to use what possession they could muster to run in five tries.
First of all, in case you somehow haven’t seen what transpired on Saturday morning, here are the match highlights, but with the New Zealand commentary team for a change of voice:
Cue tears from Pieter-Steph du Toit, and many grown men around the country:
Of course everything sounds better in isiXhosa, so let’s relive that final minute with some local flavour:
WARNING
Once again isiXhosa commentary was BOSS!! It truly captured that moment when the @Springboks won against the All Blacks!!!

Yup, we feel you.
The fifth video shows the Boks arriving back at their hotel, with some adoring fans waiting to cheer them off the bus:

You are welcome to rewatch those five videos above however many times you need to in order to make it through Monday.
One video that is less lekker to watch is this nasty clash, after the final whistle at the Australia / Argentina match that followed the Bok game, between Ozzie flanker Lukhan Tui and a fan.
Before we go to the video, here’s NewsAU:
The words that broke Wallabies star Lukhan Tui during an ugly altercation on the Gold Coast following the Wallabies’ disastrous loss to Argentina have been revealed.
According to reports, Tui responded to a fan’s expletive-laden taunts after the verbal barrage left his sister in tears…
“You’re all f***ing useless,’’ he said.
‘‘F***ing disgraceful. Why don’t you play with some heart? You should all be f***ing ashamed.”
It was revealed after the game that Tui was even more susceptible to the fan’s taunts following the sudden death of his stepfather last week.
All things considered, the 21-year-old did well not to knock the fan’s head off:
Woah. Understand frustration from wallabies fans, but no room for this. Ugly at the Gold Coast. Push and shove between fans and players pic.twitter.com/rIduG6ajgj
