You, like many others, may have woken up on Tuesday to a series of Kendall Jenner posts that have gone more viral than usual.

Naturally, the model/reality TV star made headlines for doing very little, when she appeared in a photo shoot in the buff.

Now the world is faced with the question summarised by Twitter user IGZ:

“Why tf is Kendall Jenner sprinting naked across my timeline?”

I’m here to tell you. And, yes there will be pictures, please contain yourself.

Circa reports that the pictures, which some speculated were fake, are indeed real. They were taken by photographer Russell James for his recently released book of nude portraits.

Apart from Jenner, other celebrities, such as Cindy Crawford, also feature in the collection.

The supermodels attended a New York Fashion Week party celebrating the launch of the book which is titled “Angels,” Variety reports.

Russell tells Variety that he wants these pictures to represent women empowerment rather than exploitation of the models.

“How do we treat it with the appropriate respect, so that the women in these images are champions and not exploited? That is a really hard thing to do. I don’t know if I get it right all the time, but I try my damnedest to do it,” Russell told the publication.
