Yup, that’s a ring.
In a storyline usually reserved for tacky rom-coms, a six-month miniature dachshund named Ghian snacked on his owner’s wedding ring, and ended up being rushed to the professionals before anything bad could happen.
Suppose that beats waiting for the digestive process to work its magic.
According to GoodThingsGuy, the vets “were able to avoid painful and expensive surgery and…removed it using an endoscope which is much less invasive, but still not too pleasant”.
Here’s the Cape Animal Medical Centre’s write-up on Facebook, along with their images:
[Ghian] decided that he would keep his mom’s ring safe by swallowing it. Hillside Vet took some xrays which showed the ring in the stomach.
He was then sent to CAMC where Dr Tanya Schoeman performed an endoscopy and managed to take the ring out. This procedure saved Ghian from having to have surgery.
He went home the same day in good spirits and his mom has her ring back now.
It’s tough to be mad at this face, right?
With wedding season around the corner, consider this a word of warning for all those groomsmen entrusted with keeping that ring safe until the big day.
