I guess you’ll do anything to grab headlines when you’re a D-list film director desperate for attention.
We’re talking about Luciano Silighini Garagnani, and it’s all rather obvious that this is some ridiculous PR stunt.
There’s a lot to unpack in that picture above, but how about his attempted Blue Steel face, with a selfie being snapped in the background?
Sadly, though, the PR stunt looks to have worked, if only for the fact that the story is everywhere.
Including the Hollywood Reporter:
Garagnani attended the world premiere of Luca Guadagnino’s Suspiria dressed in sneakers, faded jeans, and T-Shirt reading “Weinstein is Innocent” with a photo of disgraced Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein under his blazer. Next to him actor Paolo Riva was also all smiles, pointing to the T-Shirt in what looked to be a PR stunt.
Riva is attached to play Berlusconi in Garagnani’s upcoming project about the former Italian Prime Minister, based on the as-yet-unpublished biography, One of Us.
That’s Berlusconi of the infamous Bunga Bunga parties, in case you were wondering.
D-lister Garagnani isn’t just a fan of the former Italian PM, because he also has a keen interest in American politics.
Take a wild guess who he roots for, with this via the Independent:
He also donated money to Donald Trump’spresidential campaign and is a staunch supporter of the Republican party, according to his IMDb page.
From the ‘Biography’s section of his IMDb page, a few more nuggets:
That ‘old and noble family’ line sounds like something David Brent would say.
Garagnani was not removed from the red carpet, a move for which the Venice Film Festival has come under fire. Venice Film Festival chief Alberto Barbera did brand the stunt “a stupid move”, but as of yet, it appears that no action has been taken against Garagnani.
The Italian prick is probably revelling in all the media attention, although I’m sure we will all forget about him in a matter of days and his movie will be a massive flop.
We can live in hope.
