What would you do if you had the power of invisibility?
I would probably hide away from people and get a solid eight to nine hours of sleep a day, because that right there is called living the dream.
Things I like less than a good night’s rest – videos being shared over and over on social media, where people fail to apply basic critical thinking.
Take for example a viral video that seems to be everywhere on Facebook right now – the magician who fools two men into thinking they’re invisible.
Here’s what magician Justin Willman had to say about the clip:
When I was a kid I put a tooth under my pillow, went to sleep, and in the morning there was money there. That tangible evidence was more than enough proof to make me believe in the tooth fairy. To find out how far I could take that premise, I set up a large flash-mob style social experiment all to convince one guy he had turned invisible.
Filmed as part of the show Magic For Humans, Justin’s trick has racked up millions and millions of views.
If you haven’t yet seen it, here you go:
Shall we tear this thing to shreds?
That second guy is an awful actor. Truly awful. If you’re freaking out, why wouldn’t you just grab someone by the arm, instead of running around like a spluttering imbecile?
Woah, TV being dishonest to us? What next, somebody saying that reality TV is actually scripted?
The comments section of the video is full of haters:
As for the first guy – he makes the clip. There’s just one problem – here’s a clip from popular YouTube channel Tasty. This dude look familiar?
It’s almost like he’s an actor or something.
Cue the connection being made:
Mind = Blown (insert emoji).
There’s an interesting Reddit thread that unpacks other suspected actors in the show, which you can read here.
I mean, I don’t want to spoil your fun. You watched the video, you LOL’d, you took to Facebook to share your hilarious finding with the world.
Cool, cool, cool, but it’s less LOL-worthy when you realise that it’s you who is being taken for a ride.
