Ah, Celebrity Big Brother, the show where middle-brow celebrities go out of their way to revitalise their careers by behaving badly while living together.
The thought of being filmed 24/7 in forced living conditions with a bunch of people I don’t know is probably how I would describe my own personal brand of hell.
Then again, the entertainment that ensues under these conditions has ensured the Big Brother franchise its longevity.
Last week’s dose of reality TV drama came courtesy of Rodrigo Alves, also known as the ‘Human Ken Doll’.
Alves “left both his Celebrity Big Brother housemates and viewers at home stunned when he left the house on Saturday with no explanation”, reports OK!
Rumours have been doing the rounds that he was evicted from the show and the house due to inappropriate behaviour. He had, after all, received a formal warning for using the n-word, twice.
However, despite the latest episode not explaining his absence and reports that the show will never air his exit scenes, the real reason for his show exit has now reportedly been revealed.
According to the MailOnline, Rodrigo left the Channel 5 show after reportedly suffering a “hysterical meltdown’ in the diary room.
The incident in the room was apparently too much to be aired onscreen or explained to the public.
Turns out Alves had been considering leaving the show, especially after the eviction of his bestie Natalie.
“He started screaming and shouting in the Diary Room and became rather paranoid and hysterical.
“Despite this happening late at night, producers rushed to the studio to talk to him and arranged for the on-call psychologist to speak to him via the Diary Room.
The psychologists advised him to think carefully about wanting to leave, but his mind was made up and he was out of there.
Alves is famous for changing his appearance using plastic surgery.
The Brazilian-born reality star has admitted to having over £500,000 worth of cosmetic procedures in his bid to have the “perfect’ male physique and look like Barbie’s boyfriend, Ken.
The 34 year old has undergone over 60 procedures including a nose job, lip fillers, a bum lift and botox.
Pics have now been revealed that chronicle Alves’ transformation:
The combination of reality TV and extreme makeovers reminds me of one of my guilty pleasure shows, MOOIMAAK, met Clare Wiese Wentzel.
The biggest difference, though, being that MOOIMAAK showcases some of the alternatives to plastic surgery, like laser treatments – and the contestants come out the other side looking and feeling like better versions of themselves.
I won’t lie, I find the idea of a living Ken Doll mildly terrifying.
