It seems like people will do just about anything for a few more ‘likes’ or ‘follows’.
Social media challenges range from the absurd to the hilarious, to the downright dangerous.
Take the entertaining #AdamCatzavelosChallenge, where South Africans took to social media to rip into the idiot who couldn’t keep a handle on his racism.
There was also the “Lemon Face challenge” where participants ate a lemon wedge and posted their efforts online to raise cancer awareness.
And, because it’s the internet, there are the challenges that go too far, like the “deodorant challenge“, where idiot teenagers spray deodorant on their arms until they damage themselves.
Last, but not least, the “Kiki challenge“, which got so bad that the authorities had to step in to warn people against it.
The latest challenge is actually pretty cool, though, and involves some harmless optical illusion.
The “hand swap challenge” is best explained visually. We’re going to use Twitter videos here, even though this challenge is all over Instagram as well.

Confused? You’re not alone. The internet is currently divided into people who know how to do the trick, and people who are freaked out by it. Here’s someone called Kevin Maloney with a slow-mo tutorial:
