Any team in the world would be stoked to have Uruguayan striker Luis Suárez leading the line, and Liverpool fans will always remember him fondly for almost leading them to the Premier League title back in 2014.
Sorry to bring that up, Reds fans, but now you’ve got a potent front three and, on recent evidence, it shouldn’t be too hard to finish above arch-rivals Manchester United.
Back to Suarez, though, and his trademark goal celebration. Fans around the world have become used to seeing his fingers firing imaginary guns, which is why he has earned the nickname ‘El Pistolero’.
The superstar recently signed with PUMA Football, and over the years has had plenty of chances to hone that celebration.
He has been the top goalscorer at least once in each of the European Leagues in which he has competed (Holland, England and Spain), scoring more than 20 goals in every season since 2012 (and more than 400 in total).
Suárez has also scored 53 times for Uruguay, and is stoked with the partnership:
I’m happy to join PUMA Family. I appreciate the spirit of PUMA to rock the establishment of football as I have same spirit. I always fight to be a top scorer. I am sure we will write a cool chapter together.
That cool chapter kicked off with a little animation, and you may recognise some of the faces you’re about to see.
Anyone ringing a bell?
Antoine Griezmann, Mario Balotelli and Olivier Giroud are playing cards, while listening to piano music which comes straight from the gloves of Gianluigi Buffon.
Meanwhile, Romelu Lukaku is playing billiards, and at the bar, we can see Sergio Agüero introducing Marco Reus to the “mate” drink.
Then Luis Suárez, wearing the new PUMA Future boots, comes into the saloon. Yes, the bartender is Giorgio Chiellini, with whom Suárez became very well acquainted at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
It’s easy to see why PUMA are so stoked to welcome the superstar on board, and he’ll continue to terrify defenders for many years to come.
