We all love a good makeover show. It’s great to watch someone change into a better version of themselves. It’s also fun to imagine what it would be like to have someone step into your life with unlimited funds and sort out your skin, clothes and lifestyle in one go.
Following the success of season one, South Africa’s very own makeover show, MOOIMAAK, met Clare Wiese Wentzel, returns to kykNET for another season of life-changing transformations.
What makes MOOIMAAK different from your standard quick-fix reality show is that the transformations aren’t only physical – we also get to see the ways that participants confidence levels, spirits and self-worth are boosted.
This season is promising to be even better than the last, with longer episodes and even more radical makeovers.
Out of more than a thousand entries, 11 lucky women were chosen to appear on the show.
Ever wondered how the selection process works?
Dr. Maureen Allem, founder and medical director at the Renewal Institute, along with Dr. JJ Serfontein who specialises in comprehensive aesthetic and general dentistry, presenter Clare Wiese-Wentzel and the producers of the show was intricately involved in selecting the participants.
The physical aspect of each candidate was taken into account, together with their journey and circumstances. Whether the required changes were actually possible – be it from a dental or aesthetic point of view – within the timeframe was also another big consideration that Dr. Maureen and Dr. JJ carefully had to take into account.
Seven aesthetic doctors from Renewal Institute, both in Gauteng and the Western Cape, worked with the 11 candidates on their skin and health-related concerns under the guidance of Dr. Maureen, to make sure that the outcome would be the best one possible for each participant.
You can check out the trailer here:
The first episode aired on August 9 and followed Coreen Cronje (seen below) and her transformation. I think we can all agree that she looks like a completely different woman – and judging by her reaction on the show, she feels like one:
Coreen underwent a number of treatments including dermal fillers and botulinum toxin, Jet Plasma eye rejuvenation, and photodynamic therapy. You can see the radical change in her skin in this make-up free before and after shot:
The good news is, you don’t have to be on a reality television show to get these results for yourself. The Renewal Institute would be happy to help you out.
In the meantime, you can catch MOOIMAAK on kykNET every Thursday at 8PM, and stay up to date with all of the latest developments on their Facebook page.
