Wayne Rooney might have left the Premier League to turn out for DC United, but the footballing world is still keeping a close eye on his performances.
He recently broke his goalscoring duck for his new club, but also managed to break his nose in the same match. That would be the aftermath above, in case you wondering.
Now he’s back in the news, and this time everyone is full of praise for England’s record international scorer. In the dying seconds of DC United’s match against Orlando City, Rooney pulled off a superb tackle, and then followed it up with a precision cross.
That allowed Luciano Acosta to head in, and secured a 3-2 victory for United. If you’re wondering why DC United’s ‘keeper had come out of goal with the score tied at 2-2, it’s because a draw would have all but sealed their elimination from the play-offs.
Nice of them to overlook that trip six seconds in. Watch it again and you’ll see what I mean.
Back in England, it was business as usual for Mo Salah and his Liverpool teammates this weekend. They romped to a 4-0 win over West Ham on Sunday, with Mo once again hitting the back of the net.
He has had a pretty average start to the week, though, having been reported to police for using his phone whilst driving. You would think there are bigger problems to worry about, but apparently, so many people (probably Everton fans) told Liverpool FC about it, that they were forced to refer him to the Merseyside Police.
Poor guy can’t even drive in public without being harassed, and who hasn’t tinkered with their phone before in bumper to bumper traffic?
Mo salah did not wanna roll his window down he does not have to sign shirts every second of his life
Good on him his is driving ffs

The club has confirmed that they have spoken to the player and will be making no further comments on the matter.
I don’t reckon all that nonsense is going to bother Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp much, who’s probably still on a high from his team’s superb start to the season.
He’s also made the news for his celebration of Sadio Mane’s goal, which some have described as a ‘double penis power wank’ celebration
Their words, not mine:
Jurgen can do his best, but he’ll never come close to the level of weird that Joachin Low displays.
As a bonus, here’s one of the stranger goals you’ll ever see:

That goalscorer would be Lauren Hemp, and she took all the social media attention in her stride:
