It’s Friday, so we dug up this gem of a video from March last year about a guy who gave us some Tarzan realness, when he was saved by monkeys in the Amazon.
25-year old Chilean Maykool Coroseo Acuña mysteriously vanished in the Madidi National Park last year.
The authorities (and some Shamans) set up a search party, but Maykool was only found nine days later.
Here’s a video:
You can read the full story on National Geographic, but here are some highlights. The Shaman’s explained that Maykool’s disappearance was probably the result of:
…a mischievous sprite who hides his victims in another dimension. Such beliefs among the locals are so palpably ingrained that even law enforcement recognizes them.
The best part of this story, though, is that Maykool survived with the help of monkeys:
Maykool was laid down in a hammock and we all quietly gathered around him to listen to his story of survival. He never was able to find the river, he told us. Incredibly, he was able to instead survive by following a group of monkeys, who dropped him fruit and lead him to shelter and water every day.
Bless.
