Rodrigo Duterte doesn’t do things by the book.
By that I mean he’s a horrible man who cracks rape jokes and thinks the world of himself, and thus has a big soft spot (or hard-on) for Donald Trump.
He’s also fond of grand attention-grabbing gestures, which is where the destruction of around £4 million (R70 million) worth of luxury cars and motorcycles as part of an anti-corruption campaign comes in.
76 smuggled cars, including Porsches and Lamborghinis and bikes, were bulldozed into oblivion. They were amongst the 800 vehicles illegally imported into the Philippines during the past year.
Observe:
I guess as a standalone stunt it’s not all that bad, but that doesn’t change the fact that Duterte is a real tool.
