Julius Malema brought the firepower to an EFF after-party at the Sisa Dukashe Stadium in Mdantsane over the weekend. A video has emerged showing the notorious party leader firing what appears to be an assault rifle off the side of the stage.
After scaring the hell out of the crowd, he then passes the weapon to Bluff security company owner Adriaan Snyman, who then sheepishly ducks out of the shot, later denying that he knew anything about it.
EFF spokesperson Mbuyiseni Ndlozi says it wasn’t a real gun. Take a look and make your own mind up:
And here’s News24:
When approached for comment, Ndlozi told News24: “It is not a firearm and no real bullets were shot. It was a simulation, part of our entire act of celebrating the 5th anniversary. It coincided with the singing of struggle songs and fireworks”.
All sounds a little suspect.
That wasn’t the last of it, either. Malema continued the theatrics on Tuesday, retweeting a video of a throwdown at the Rustenburg municipality between EFF councillors and municipal security. The Citizen reports:
According to the party, they had raised concerns about not receiving the agenda of Tuesday’s council meeting and were then “heavily assaulted” when they complained. The councillors involved were reportedly the EFF’s Councillor Motswane, as well as Jane Mpolokeng and Philip Mtombeni.
Footage of the assault was uploaded to Twitter

Doesn’t look that heavy to me.
But hey – when you start the weekend with an (allegedly fake) assault rifle, that’s hard to top.
