Looks like Auntie Pat ain’t going nowhere anytime soon.
On Thursday, the DA announced that it had officially withdrawn its motion of no confidence against Cape Town’s embattled mayor.
This follows after lengthy discussions between her and the party’s top brass went down.
IOL reports:
According to sources close to De Lille, the DA top leadership and De Lille have signed an agreement [on Wednesday night], which is believed to state that no further motions of no confidence will be instituted against De Lille, and the party would allow her to clear her name through the disciplinary hearing.
I bet De Lille is feeling validated after months of going through the most with the DA.
From being booted out of the party, surviving a motion of no confidence back in February and the party trying to invoke a recall clause on her, she wasn’t going to back down.
Back in May, the Western Cape High Court ruled in favour of De Lille in her application to have the DA’s decision to strip her of her membership reviewed and set aside.
Two months later, and it looks she’s not about to abandon her mayoral saddle just yet.
Now if the DA can just move on and focus on the 2019 elections, that would be great.
