If you needed a little motivation to get through the rest of the week, look no further than photos of human’s one true companion.
No, it’s not a cellphone – we’re talking about dogs, dammit.
As reported by The Huffington Post, photographers worldwide were invited to send their entries to the United Kingdom’s Kennel Club’s “Dog Photographer of the Year” competition.
As a result, 10 000 pics depicting photogenic pooches, pavement specials and pups galore were submitted.
Have at these cute canines, and then subsequently weep ’cause you know you can’t have them all:
This handsome German Shepherd is called Rocko, an assistance dog who took first place in the category “Assistance Dogs”.
Argentina has Lionel Messi, and then Brazil has Messi the Golden Retriever, who took second place in the “Assistance Dogs” category.
Why so serious, doggos?
It’s all work and a bit of play later for these pooches, known as “Wayne’s team”. They scooped up first place in the “Dogs at Work” category.
Now please, Wayne, let them go plaaaay.
Dear lord, if my cold heart hasn’t melted by now, this little Pomeranian has done it for me. Congrats to you, Lili, for coming first place in “Dogs at Play”.
Now please go and lighten up Wayne’s team with your bubble antics.
An adorable entry that deserved to win the”I Love Dogs Because …” category, hands-down. Fight me on this.
Second place went to cocker spaniel/poodle crossbreed Darcy and her ball.
This a great time to tell y’all how German Shepherd pups are so underrated in the cuteness department. Roxy’s adorbs factor took her home top honours in the “Young Pup Photographers” category.
We don’t deserve dogs like Monty, this German shorthaired pointer. They’re too majestic for the likes of us. Congrats on your third place win in the above category, ol’ boy.
There’s no such thing as having too many puppies. Here, take five of ’em.
Portugal’s Godji came in first place for the category “Man’s Best Friend”. As a dog owner, I can confirm that dogs do things like this, either because they like you, or they want to act like dicks.
Godji could be feeling either, but hey, at least he looks sweet doing it.
Third place went to Ruby Roo the Golden Retriever, whose photo reminds us all that we need to go home and hug our dogs at the earliest convenience.
That, and it tells us that Ruby Roo’s owner has got an odd taste in doggo names.
Now, please excuse me while I go hug my pooch.
