The last time we saw good ol’ Johnny Depp, the guy was being dragged into yet another lawsuit for punching a crew member and generally acting the fool.
With all that trouble on his plate, we thought he’d keep himself on the down-low.
The last thing we expected from the troubled star was for him to appear in full wizard cosplay at San Diego Comic-Con over the weekend.
Fans in the audience were spellbound AF when Depp took to the stage, dressed up as Gellert Grindelwald – the villainous wizard from his new flick, Fantastic Beasts: The Crime of Grindelwald – to address them.
The Telegraph has the deets:
The latest JK Rowling tale – the second Harry Potter prequel – also features Eddie Redmayne as Newt Scamander and Jude Law as a young Albus Dumbledore, long before he was headmaster of Hogwarts School …
And when Warner Brothers unveiled the line-up for the Comic-Con panel to showcase the trailer for the film, Depp was not among the famous names listed.
Instead, he made a surprise appearance half-way through the discussion, strolling on stage as the wizard Gellert Grindelwald, to deliver an anti-Muggle manifesto.

Uh, how magical?
The audience, however, lapped his performance up. It’s as if they completely forgotten about his alleged abuse of ex-wife Amber Heard.
Not to mention the fact that Heard was at Comic-Con, too, speaking at another Warner Bros. panel following her’s ex’s surprise appearance.
Awks for days.
