What’s the best way to promote a running marathon?
By getting yourself a huge production budget, hiring a good director, and roping in some top-quality actors.
The result? An Oscar-worthy action trailer that looks better than any movie playing in the cinemas right now *cough, Solo – A Star Wars Story, cough*.
That’s how an advertising agency called Brandenburg approached the promotion of the Reykjavík City Marathon. An annual charity event in Iceland that’s going down next month, people can sign up to run between three and 42 kilometres in the marathon, in support of a charity of their own choosing.
Sheesh, 42 kilometres? I’m sweating in my boots just thinking about running a single kilometre.
That’s why Brandenburg took the initiative with their excellent You Better Run promo, which sees 20 of Iceland’s famous actors partaking in every conceivable movie situation you can think of to support the event.
The Drum has more:
The film encourages marathon runners to think about exercise as a form of adventure, rather than an ordeal.
If you need convincing on that front, take a look at this promo:
Y’all ready to run now? I thought so.
Well played, Brandenburg.
