Sjoe, these two mansions make some of the properties in Cape Town look like student digs.
Two neighbouring mansions in Bel-Air, California, are going all out in their attempts to outdo each other to become the most expensive home ever sold in the United States.
The Daily Mail reports that the first property will be hitting the market at around the $180 million mark.
That’s a ginormous R2,3 billion, my friends. You could buy quite a few Orangezicht properties with that kinda dough.
However, the neighbour next door is being a bit more bold, with his property being listed at a titanic $188 million [R2,5 billion].
Well, folks, if you’ve got that amount of cash dollar lying around, now’s the time to go mad and spend it all on America’s finest, priciest property.
If not, there’s no harm pretending that you can snatch one of these properties up. After seeing what the second property is all about, you’ll be adding it to your eternal wishlist.
Before we get there, let’s check out Mansion #1:
Prominent Los Angeles plastic surgeon Raj Kanodia developed one of the gorgeous sprawling mansions, located on Nimes Road. He is selling the home for $180 000 (R2,3 billion).
The stunning home features nine bedrooms and a Portuguese limestone facade with a floating staircase and a double-height entry.
Kanodia put wall-to-wall glass doors on the property and built an entertaining kitchen as well as a catering kitchen. The home also includes a 2 000-bottle wine room encased in white oak and glass and a fitness center designed by celebrity trainer Harley Pasternak, who has worked with A-list stars like Jordana Brewster, Hilary Duff, Amanda Seyfried, Megan Fox and Lady Gaga.
The outside of the home features a gorgeous waterfall, a vegetable and herb garden and an outdoor kitchen complete with a pizza oven and a grill.
Good effort, Kanodia, but your neighbour wants you to hold his beer … and wine … and champagne.
Behold, the most expensive home in the USA:
Not too shabby, am I right?
The report has all the details:
The other home was developed by luxury handbag entrepreneur Bruce Makowsky, who wants $188 million [R2,5 billion] for his 38 000 square foot Bel-Air mansion.
The mansion has 12 bedrooms and 12 bathrooms. Two of the bedrooms are master suites and the rest are “over-sized VIP guest suites”.
The home also features three gourmet kitchens, five bars, a massage studio and wellness spa and a fitness center.
There is an indoor 40-seat theater and an outdoor pop-up theater, according to the home’s listing.
Among the many amenities is this “massive” candy wall full of various sweet treats. This candy wall provides the perfect snacks for those wishing to catch a movie in the home’s indoor or outdoor theatre.
There is also an 85-foot glass tile infinity pool, a helicopter pad, a four-lane bowling alley and lounge, an auto gallery that comes with $30 million [R400 million] worth of luxury cars … two fully stacked champagne and wine cellars.
Kanodia, eat your diamond-encrusted heart out.
If you’re ever considering buying Makowsky’s palatial home – which promises to give you more bang for your buck than Kanodia’s mansion – please take me with you.
Y’all can have the cellars, I’ll take care of the candy wall.
Like I said, no harm in pretending:
To dream the impossible dream.
