Yes, girl, yes!
My friends, the breastfeeding revolution has officially taken over the world.
Nearly a month after an MP broke the internet for breastfeeding her baby in Canadian Parliament, another mother is causing a stir for doing the deed while on the job.
Her job being to strut her fabulous stuff on the runway.
Swimsuit model Mara Martin looked fierce AF in a gold bikini as she sashayed down the Sports Illustrated catwalk, after landing a spot in the top 16 of an open casting run by the magazine for Miami Swim Week.
As you can see from the video, she wasn’t alone:
Mother-daughter bonding never looked so stunning:
A family that slays together, stays together.
Don’t worry about the earphones on Martin’s baby, Aria. They’re there to cancel out the noise, which – as you can tell from the clip – was hella loud as people cheered at the sight of these two.
Sports Illustrated swimsuit editor MJ Day told Sky News about the decision to send Martin and her little tyke out on the runway:
I saw that Mara’s baby was sleeping and peacefully nursing. I asked Mara if she would want to walk and continue to nurse.
She said ‘Oh my gosh, yes! Really? Are you sure?’, and I said ‘Absolutely!’
I loved the idea to be able to allow Mara to keep nursing and further highlight how incredible and beautiful women are. For me, I nursed two babies myself, so I find it to be one of the most powerful things the female body can do. It was the easiest decision I have had to make in months.
You can add “the best decision ever”.
Martin herself was chuffed about the positive response she got, and she took to Instagram to thank everyone for the love:
Here’s the main takeaway from her post:
I can’t believe I am waking up to headlines with me and my daughter in them for doing something I do every day. It is truly so humbling and unreal to say the least. I’m so grateful to be able to share this message and hopefully normalise breastfeeding, and also show others that women CAN DO IT ALL!
Thanks for the wake-up call, Mara, the world needed it.
