It’s Not Coming Home – England Fans Before And After World Cup Exit [Videos]

England came within 22 minutes of a World Cup final, but in the end it was Croatia who came out on top. As you would imagine, there were tears.

Is there a prize for being the millionth person to make an ‘it’s not coming home’ joke?

Nah, I’m good, and I think English footie fans should be chuffed with the efforts of their lads over in Russia.

Still, there are going to be some very long, very sad faces traipsing into work today, but that’s the nature of the beast.

I really feel for both England and Belgium, who must now pretend to care about third and fourth spot, but let’s get started with some of the pre-match antics.

This one isn’t real, but props to the team who made it:

With yesterday being Waistcoat Wednesday, in honour of Gareth Southgate, these lads’ outfits were on point:

England fans were gearing up for more celebrations like this, which took place after the quarter-final victory over Sweden:

A police van in the back and he doesn’t give a single bollock.

Right, to the action on the pitch.

Not a bad angle on Trippier’s free-kick, and keep an eye on Pickford going mental in the English goal:

That first England goal going in – pandemonium:

Utter pandemonium:

These places must love the beer throwing antics:

Cut to a few brave Pom fans in Croatia, who came very close to being battered after their team took the lead:

Croatia would draw level in the 68th minute, thanks to an Ivan Perisic goal, and into extra time we went. Could England win their second penalty shoot-out?

Unfortunately for them, Mr Mario Mandžukić wasn’t having it, and his extra time winner was enough to see Croatia through to the final:

That made the fans in Zagreb rather happy:

And celebrations after the final whistle:

Fair play to the English fans, who stuck around after the final whistle and gave it horns:

Most English fans would have been happy with making the quarter-final before the tournament kicked off, so they can’t be too harsh on a team that came within 22 minutes of a World Cup final.

One upside of the English exit is not having to see Lingard celebrating. Rather, this:

I do feel for Rashford, who will have more than a few shots at glory in the years to come:

Gutted:

Tears:

Tough not to feel for that chap.

In case you missed the action, here are the highlights:

It’s been a cracker of a World Cup, and I can’t be alone in hoping that Croatia, with a population of just over four million, make history and take home the trophy.

One thing we do know is where it won’t be going.
