She’s got a British husband, a British royal title and about a gazillion British royal family protocols to follow.
Now it sounds like Meghan Markle has herself a British accent to match.
A report by The Independent explains that the Duchess of Sussex was out and about in Cheshire with Queen Elizabeth II on June 14.
She was captured on footage exchanging pleasantries with adoring fans, which Twitter user @elzeiny99 uploaded to her account.
That’s when other users noticed something odd about the way the American-born Markle was talking.

Naturally, the Twitterverse went into overdrive over this latest revelation about the former Suits actress’s new lilt.
Some weren’t having it:
Others reckon she sounds the same as before:
The rest just don’t understand why Meghan’s getting all this flak:
Meanwhile, what do the real experts have to say?
Per the report, experts reckon it’s completely normal to pick up an accent depending on who you surround yourself with.
Linguistics expert Dr Damien Hall said:
Subconsciously, you always have the impulse to adapt to your surroundings, wherever you are. So in London, you’ve adapted the way you speak to a lowest common denominator accent – in other words, you’ve learned to speak without any regional peculiarities at all that would make you difficult to understand.
When you go home, you take yourself out of the professional milieu and back to friends and family members who know you well. You relax because there isn’t that constraint of needing to be understood.
In short: Meghan Markle + living in England for a while = picking up the British accent.
Simple, folks.
Well, that depends on your interpretation of the video, of course.
Either way, I’m sure Markle has got more pressing issues to worry about instead of her diction, like trying to sort out her and her dad’s relationship.
