The Perils Of Ordering Pizza In Durban

You expect a few things from a pizza delivery guy - it arrives at the right place, it arrives in time to be warm, and it arrives without the threat of physical violence.

I thought the people up in Durbs were supposed to be like, chilled, bru?

What’s the biggest argument you’ve ever had with someone over pizza? Mine was whilst living in a digs when I woke up with a raging hangover and someone had eaten my leftovers, although that incident only resulted in a friendship almost falling apart.

Did I force them to order me a new one from Butler’s – yes, and I stand by my actions.

Making the news up in Southridge‚ near Umdhloti Beach, is a dispute over cold pizza that ended in less amicable circumstances.

Over to Times LIVE for this one:

Security company Reaction Unit South Africa said they had responded to a frantic call for assistance from a woman…who claimed that a pizza delivery driver had attempted to strangle her.

Spokesman Prem Balram said that a 27-year-old woman had told officers that the pizza delivery guy had attempted to run her over with his bike and them attempted to strangle her during a dispute.

According to the woman she ordered a pizza from a popular outlet.

“She explained that when the pizza arrived at her workplace‚ it was an hour later and the food was cold. She then got into an argument with the driver regarding the delay and the company’s cold pizza policy. He then attempted to knock her with his bike.”

Balram said the woman grabbed the bike to prevent injury‚ prompting the driver to strangle her.

He said the driver had fled when her colleagues raised the alarm.

What kind of an employee tries to strangle a customer? Was the delivery driver the CEO of Roman’s Pizza?

Seriously, though, we don’t know which company this guy works/worked for, because he fled the scene and “could not be immediately located”.

It’s a pity that pizza delivery guys with class, like the dapper team at Butler’s Pizza, are only available to drop off your goodies in Cape Town.

They’re kind of like the Table Mountain of pizza companies, you might say.

It’s a Thursday, and Thursdays are good for pizza. If you are wrapping up warm, and want the good stuff dropped off at your door piping hot and with a smile, here are some specials to consider.
