Our boy Trevor Noah has been making waves across the pond. From landing The Daily Show hosting gig to making a cameo in Black Panther, he’s been on a massive roll and shows no sign of stopping.
Except not everybody is a big fan. It’s true – Noah’s got some haters out there, and Canadian comedian Russell Peters is one of them.
That’s because Noah allegedly stole his jokes from him, Peters boldly claimed during an interview on American Radio Show Sway In The Morning, IOL reports.
The whole segment is worth the watch, but it’s when Sway brings up Noah that Peters unloaded all the bitter spice (’round about the 18:33 mark):
Ouch. Peters wasn’t out here to play nice, and he didn’t stop there:
The Chef star went on to explain that he previously called The Daily Show’host out for stealing his jokes, but he ended up doing it again.
Peters then provided an example of a Russian joke which he claims Noah stole …
His Russian fiancée was speaking to her mother over there phone in her native language and when she hung up, Peters jokingly mocked their conversation by speaking ‘Russian gibberish’. To which his fiancée replied: “you’re speaking in reverse”.
This is Noah’s alleged interpretation:
Sound pretty similar, doesn’t it?
Peters thinks so, and he’s sticking to his guns. He’s no stranger to putting Noah on blast for stealing his material; he called him out back in a 2015 interview for being a thief, News24 reported.
Of course, he backtracked on his statements after news of his interview had made headlines. Peters claimed in a tweet to Noah that his statements were a “prank”, and our boy has the last laugh:
Now that Peters has made the headlines again with this latest interview, however, I seriously doubt he’s going to backtrack on his spice this time around.
We’re waiting on Noah to respond, and when that happens, bring your popcorn.
