Mother Nature is not playing games, people.
Capetonians had reason to rejoice after a spate of rainfalls hit the Western Cape recently.
However, they had to do all their celebrating indoors, wrapped in layers of blankets and jerseys, after a hectic weekend saw temperatures falling to dramatic lows, gale-force winds, and flash flooding in the streets.
Guess what, good people – we should expect more of the same thing to happen today.
Per a report by The South African:
Widespread frosts, snow coverings and flood warnings are all in place for Monday, as the cold front battering the Western Cape begins to push itself eastwards.
The temperatures are set to plummet across Mzansi, with six provinces receiving a set of advisory warnings from the South African Weather Service (Saws).
In Cape Town, the rain is doing some good:
Cold & Wet with a definite chance of coffee.

It’s even making these waterfalls run wild on Table Mountain:
In the rest of the city, however, it’s wreaking havoc, as seen from a photo taken in Sea Point yesterday by @LifeIsSavage:
This is giving me those #CapeStorm flashbacks.
When cars are floating in the street, you know this is a huge bugger of a flood.
And there will be more:
Localised urban flooding is expected over the West Coast District, City of Cape Town, Cape Winelands, and western parts of the Overberg Sunday, carrying on into Monday morning.
Heavy rain leading to flooding is expected over the West Coast District, City of Cape Town, Cape Winelands and western parts of the Overberg on Sunday, persisting into Monday morning.
In fact, it’s already begun, Traveller24 reports:

Meanwhile, the rest of the province should also brace itself for snowfall:
Disruptive snowfalls is expected over the high ground areas of the Cape Winelands and West Coast district overnight on Sunday, and into Monday morning.
By “disruptive snowfalls”, they mean the kind that has practically covered Sutherland in the Northern Province, reports EWN:
Yup, I definitely think the Western Cape is in for some Frozen realness.
In addition to rain and snow, the other provinces – namely the Eastern Cape, the North West, the Northern Cape and Gauteng – are expected to be hit with damaging winds, veld fire conditions and frost.
What a way to start the week, huh?
Well, I suppose if we weren’t complaining about the rain, we’d be complaining about the heat. Go figure.
Stay safe out there and keep bundled up, folks.
