Guess who’s back in all his bad-ass, bloodied glory?
It was 31 years ago that Arnold Schwarzenegger first led a hunt through Central America for an extraterrestrial life-form that was out to get them.
Now two “meh, it’s average” sequels and two crossover films later, Preddy is making his grand return to the silver screen in The Predator, which is being billed as a re-imagining of the series.
Look, we’ve all had fair shares of reboots, re-imaginings and sequels, but the synopsis promises Predator fans that the film’s got a lot to offer:
Esquire explains:
From the outer reaches of space to the small-town streets of suburbia, the hunt comes home in Shane Black’s explosive reinvention of the Predator series. Now, the universe’s most lethal hunters are stronger, smarter and deadlier than ever before, having genetically upgraded themselves with DNA from other species.
When a young boy accidentally triggers their return to Earth, only a ragtag crew of ex-soldiers and a disgruntled science teacher can prevent the end of the human race.
Heck – even the official trailer – which was released on June 26, seems to live up to that promise:
Yup, The Predator seems to be lot more edgier than its predecessors. The dialogue is a bit on the cheesy side, but hey, Preddy himself (itself?) looks damn cool.
Perhaps this movie might give Mandy or Halloween a run for their money in the horror-action department … dare I say maybe even the first Predator flick?
Emphasis on “maybe”.
Reminder: we can’t be too carried away until the final product comes out, because only then will we see if it truly lives up to the glory days of the original.
The Predator is due for release in American cinemas on September 14.
