When it comes to movies, I tend to nope out of horror flicks real quickly.

No to Michael Myers rampaging across my screen, and no to the Hereditary trailer playing on full blast, thank you very much.

Then you get Nicolas Cage going all kinds of crazy in the new film Mandy, with the official trailer released yesterday, and I’m maxed out.

If horror is your thing, you could be in for a treat.

Rolling Stone has the scoop:

Red Miller (Nicolas Cage) and Mandy Bloom (Andrea Riseborough) seem to be living a peaceful life as a couple before a perverse cult enters their home and nabs Mandy in the new trailer for horror film, Mandy.

Panos Cosmatos (Beyond the Black Rainbow) directed the movie, which premiered at Sundance earlier this year. Cosmatos also co-wrote the film alongside Aaron Stewart-Ahn.

The trailer emphasises the surreal vibes of the film, which features a creepy cult led by Jeremiah Sand (Linus Roache) who seek to take over Mandy’s body and soul, a handcrafted mythical looking weapon meant to hunt “crazy evil,” enhanced animated footage, color-saturated scenes and a bloody-faced, wild-eyed Cage.

Lesson learned: it’s best not to trifle with an unhinged Cage.

Mandy will be released in American cinemas on September 14.
