Auf Wiedersehen, Germany.
As has become customary for European countries that win the previous World Cup, the Germans crashed out after finishing bottom of Group F.
I don’t know it’s a lingering resentment from the World Wars, or maybe that people are sick of seeing them winning, but around the world the German exit was met with a hearty chuckle.
Except in Germany, or by German fans in Russia.
First up, the curse of the reigning champs:
I’d take a World Cup win for a group stage exit at the next tournament any day of the week.

Both Brazil and England are over the moon – Brazil still hurting from that 7-1 drubbing in 2014, and England still hurting from just about every encounter between the two teams since 1966.
