Photos And Videos Of Stunned And Angry Germans After Shock World Cup Exit

Yesterday saw the defending champs dumped out of the World Cup, and of course there were tears. The rest of the world seemed to enjoy it, though.

Auf Wiedersehen, Germany.

As has become customary for European countries that win the previous World Cup, the Germans crashed out after finishing bottom of Group F.

I don’t know it’s a lingering resentment from the World Wars, or maybe that people are sick of seeing them winning, but around the world the German exit was met with a hearty chuckle.

Except in Germany, or by German fans in Russia.

First up, the curse of the reigning champs:

I’d take a World Cup win for a group stage exit at the next tournament any day of the week.

So much snot en trane:

Both Brazil and England are over the moon – Brazil still hurting from that 7-1 drubbing in 2014, and England still hurting from just about every encounter between the two teams since 1966.

The BBC compiled this list of reactions:

And a shout-out to South Korea’s keeper, who had himself a blinder:

Wonder if his backstory can rival that of his Iranian counterpart?

To finish – because everything is better with Titanic music, here’s that final South Korean goal:

It also means this World Cup will wrap up without a classic ‘Joachim Loew sniffs his finger’ moment:

We must soldier on regardless.
