Over the weekend, fourteen dogs vied for the bleak-sounding title of the World’s Ugliest Dog.
Despite there being fierce and fugly competition, the victory was eventually bestowed upon Zsa Zsa, an English Bulldog (pictured above), who’s cute in a weird sort of a way.
As TIME points out, she joins the ranks of 10 other homely hounds who have snatched the title over the last decade, thanks to their unsightly looks.
Take a look at the lovable, slovenly mutts who topped the podium:
This slobbery beauty is Martha, a Neapolitan mastiff who won the World’s Ugliest Dog Competition in Petaluma, California last year.
Somehow, she was dethroned by Zsa Zsa. I’m still trying to figure out how this could even possibly happen.
Sweepee Rambo, a Chinese crested, took home the 2016 title and a sweet R20 260 cash prize. Well-deserved, don’t you agree?
Behold Quasi Modo, your 2015 winner. His owner claims he has a back too short for its body, hence his very apt name.
Peanut, a chihuahua-shitzu mix, walked away with a nice trophy, ribbon and a big ol’ toothy smile in 2014.
Walle the beagle-basse walks like a true winner down the red carpet. Makes sense since he won back in 2013.
What’s better than fugly? Mugly, which is the name of this Chinese crested who won the 2012 contest. Heck, he even got to do a photoshoot in London, he’s so famous.
2011 was a good year for Yoda. No, not the one from Star Wars, but this doggo who emerged victorious in the competition.
Princess Abby the chihuahua, the 2010 winner, took to the stage and pranced about in style after winning.
Sjoe, that underbite, though.
Still, it was enough for Pabst the boxer-mix to win the 2009 contest.
Here’s looking at you, Gus! The three-legged Chinese-crested was your 2008 winner.
Altogether, these brave doggos managed to charm the judging panel, and are now among the rare set who can lay claim to the title of the World’s Ugliest Dogs.
I already can’t wait to see who dethrones Zsa Zsa next.
