Guess who’s back from their honeymoon, folks?
Yes, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have returned after a romantic getaway at a fairytale castle, and they stepped out in style at the first day of the Royal Ascot races.
The newly-married Duke and Duchess of Sussex arrived at the five-day horse-racing event that started on Wednesday.
As you can see, this was a golden opportunity for Markle to show off her fashion sense:
Horse-racing for who?
All eyes were clearly on Markle – and her hubby didn’t look bad in his dapper suit and top hat ensemble, either.
Still, Markle really turned it out with this elegant outfit given the event’s strict dress code.
Take it away, Telegraph:
With bateau necklines off the table as an option, Meghan opted for a shirt dress by Givenchy instead, further cementing her affinity with the French label’s creative director Clare Waight Keller, who was behind her wedding dress, as well as the couture dress she wore for her first public engagement carried out alongside The Queen in Chester last week …
Meghan paired the Givenchy shirt dress, which has a fluid shape and a thin black belt nipping it in at the waist, with black patent pumps, Birkslarge yellow gold and diamond studs and a navy and white sculptural hat courtesy of celebrated milliner Philip Treacy. The new Duchess also, notably, opted to wear nude tights under the dress for the second time since she officially became part of the Royal family.
Strict traditions aside, she and Prince Harry still managed to get lovey-dovey for all to see:
We see what you’re doing, you crazy kids. Don’t think we don’t know what’s going on.
Or maybe Markle is standing close by, in case her husband comes under attack by another bee.
At one point, the lovebirds threw subtlety straight out the window with this sweet gesture:
Cue all the “awwws”.
