For goodness sake, you would think South Africans would learn from the Vicki Momberg incident and not resort to disgusting, overt racism.
Unfortunately, some woman didn’t get the memo, and that got her deservedly kicked off a plane.
She was removed from a Kulula flight last Friday evening after another passenger heard her allegedly calling the pilot the K-word, reports News24.
Nadine Watkins, who had been on the same flight, kept Twitter abreast of the development:
Well, that escalated quickly.
Watkins followed up with another tweet, explaining that the offender had been on her phone with her boyfriend when she dropped the K-word bomb.
Nuh uh, dearie, that’s not going to fly in this day and age, and neither are you.
The passenger next to her overheard the slur and took initiative, resulting in the woman’s removal:
Take that, Vicki Momberg-wannabe.
As for the airline, Kulula spokesperson William Smook has confirmed that an “incident” (read: racist drama) had taken place:
We can confirm that there was an incident involving a passenger aboard one of our flights. We’re investigating it. We don’t tolerate discrimination in any form.
Our crew are entitled to do their jobs without verbal abuse.
Good on the crew for taking action quickly.
At the very least, the woman can thank her lucky stars that she wasn’t booted off mid-flight.
