I’m pretty sure coffins don’t come cheap, but this has to be one of the most expensive I’ve ever seen.
A Nigerian man has reportedly left residents of Ihiala local government area in shock after he buried his father in a R1 million BMW, reports News24.
Wow, talking about being buried in style. Imagine rocking up to the Pearly Gates in a luxury car.
The photo of the funeral, which also shows people gathered to bear witness, is currently doing the rounds on social media, and it’s every bit as tear-jerking and weird as it looks:
I don’t know whether to cry over the loss of human life, or the fact that a brand-spanking new set of wheels is about to buried six feet under.
But per the report, the grieving son – identified only as Azubuike – had his heart in the right place:
According to [news publication] Naij … Azubuike lost his father recently and decided to honour him through burying him in “a luxurious car that would be used as a coffin”.
Such a sweet, costly sentiment.
But judging from the negative response he’s got so far, as summed up perfectly by this comment …
… we just hope for Azubuike’s sake that no jealous soul decides to dig up the vehicle and take it for themselves.
Although I’d love to hear how the thief would explain the body in the backseat.
