“When he defranchised my brother’s (Paris) Roman’s Pizza store he sent us an urgent high court application, which was later dismissed. He was ordered to pay the costs, which he hasn’t paid yet,” claimed Ioannou.
We’ve all had a good chuckle at My Bok Boks, but this is a recording that takes things to the next level.
There is no special person here, because Roman’s Pizza CEO John Nicolakakis wants to squash his rivals, boet, and he isn’t afraid to tell them that.
A recording of a phone call between Nicolakakis and a rival businessman, “whose business is one of three rival pizza companies he has accused of stealing his business plan”, has been released to Times LIVE.
Buckle up, but before we get to the phone call let’s establish a few things:
Nicolakakis, who does not deny the contents of the recording, has accused one of the rival pizzerias of unethical behaviour, as they allegedly used Roman’s Pizza plans to open their new store in King William’s Town…
Apparently the recording was made late last year, but the businessman said he only came forward with it now because the threats would not stop.
At the receiving end are 2 Brothers Pizza in King William’s Town, owned by Reno Ioannou, Rebels Pizza owned by Anthony Velissaridis and Take 2 Pizza company, owned by Dennis Alagiozoglou.
Friday drinking game – have a shot every time you hear the word “boet” and you’ll be on your ear in minutes.
Also, plenty of swearing:
Quite the pivot at the end there – “have a good evening, my friend”. Sorry, but I think that ship has sailed.
I don’t know about selling large pizzas for R30 a pop, but we can tell you that Butler’s Pizza have some cracking specials running from Sunday to Thursday:
Yum. OK, here’s how the legal action has panned out thus far:
Reno Ioannou, who obtained the recording, said these were serious threats coming from Nicolakakis [below]. He said his brother, Paris Ioannou, was on the receiving end of the conversation…
“It must however be noted that although Roman’s Pizza’s urgent application was struck from the roll for lack of urgency, the matter is still pending before court. Roman’s Pizza has therefore not ‘lost the case in the Eastern Cape’ as suggested,” said Nicolakakis.
I’m not too sure where these duelling pizza chains go from here, but I reckon it’s going to be a feisty ride.
Boet.
