I know it’s not cool to revel in the misfortune of others, but if you choose to chase cheese down a steep hill it’s kinda fair game.
The Cooper’s Hill Cheese Rolling competition is world-famous, taking place close to Gloucestershire in England. Contestants travel from around the globe to participate, and crowds enjoy watching some pretty spectacular wipeouts and tumbles.
This year was no different, with a record number of participants getting in on the action.
Before we enjoy some footage, here’s a shout-out to the winner from the BBC:
A champion cheese-roller has broken the all-time record for the most cheeses won in Gloucestershire’s death-defying races.
Chris Anderson has now taken home a total of 22 double Gloucester cheeses in 14 years, after chasing the hefty 8lb (3.6kg) cheeses down Cooper’s Hill.
The 30-year-old broke the record held by Stephen Gyde after winning the first of this year’s men’s downhill races.
Mr Anderson said: “I’ve got nothing to prove now, I’m happy.”
Look at his delighted face:
#goals, or some shit like that.
I’ve had enough of the preamble, and now it’s time to gawk:
If you’re going to go down, go down in dramatic fashion.
A special mention to Australian Nathan Anstey, 30, who took part wearing only budgie smugglers:
Un-brie-lievable.
OK, gouda go.
