Modelling isn’t an easy gig. The most successful models spend years developing their portfolios and improving their, uh, performance abilities.
I guess that includes working on their preen-and-pout technique for the camera.
But, as Kult Models South Africa agent Jason Smith revealed to Business Insider SA, they can make tons of cash for their efforts. The average South African model can earn between R25 000 and R60 000 a month after tax, but that depends on whether the model travels overseas.
Rates differ between men and women: the top guys in the modelling game can “command rates starting at R50 000 per day”, while the top girls can earn double the amount on the daily.
Yup, that’s how much brands are willing to splurge on models.
The best models, mind you.

“Sport stars work years to be at the top of their game; the same applies to 98% of the models in the world,” Smith says.
