Simple maths, folks: drinking + driving = disaster.
A driver was captured careening into a row of vehicles at a dealership in Northcliff, Johannesburg in the wee hours of Sunday morning.
And no, he didn’t do it because he was an unsatisfied customer like this irate Porsche driver – he was merely plastered out of his skull.
According to the report by News24, the driver was “riding at a high speed along Beyers Naude Avenue when he lost control and ploughed into several vehicles parked outside the dealership”.
Oy vey.
Here’s a video of the hectic moment:
Sjoe, I probably would have run away, too, if I saw that car hurtling at me.
Via the report:
According to the JMPD’s Lesiba Montja, an officer who was on the scene, the driver sustained minor injuries.
“Upon testing the driver, we found that his alcohol levels were over the limit,” Montja told News24.
I think that’s pretty clear from the video.
Hatfield Volkswagen Northcliff dealer principal Tebatso Manyama was not definitely impressed with the driver, who apologised to the dealership on Tuesday:
We will be opening a case against the driver for damage to property and reckless driving.
He came to apologise, and he looked like he was in pain, physically and emotionally.
Don’t reckon a simple sorry is going to cut it, pal.
That goes out to everyone, really: just call an Uber instead of driving like a drunken doos.
