Why is that when people think about planning an outfit, the shades are often an afterthought?
You know the drill – all that fretting over the shoes, the dress, the hair, and then only once you’re done and dusted you think about popping on some shades.
Hell nah, and that’s exactly what Sunglass Hut’s #StartWithTheShades is all about. Home to the biggest brands and latest styles, Sunglass Hut is flipping that script, hosting a MasterClass at the Vista Marina restaurant in the V&A Waterfront.
They also made use of their waterside Boatshed, hosting some of South Africa’s premier fashionistas.
You might recognise the likes of Nadia Jaftha, Calvyn Justus and Khanya Mkangisa below:
Here’s Khanya:
And Nadia:
Rocking those shades.
Nothing like a little yacht or three in the background to up the ante:
To help you suss out the vibe, here’s an interview from on the day:
The MasterClass saw different teams of influencers styling a model, starting with the shades as the focal point, with the winning team receiving free sunnies from the Sunglass Hut Boatshed.
Two of the models strutting their stuff:
And one of the winners, who is clearly stoked to have come out on top:
“These are my drama sunglasses” – love the honesty.
The event was a resounding success, lighting up social media, and helping to shift shades to the forefront of the outfit planning conversation.
And you’re still rocking those scratched sunnies from back in the day – shem.
Maybe it’s time you checked out what Sunglass Hat offers, and you can even swing past a store for some advice on which shades will suit your face type.
Once you’ve sorted that out, the rest of the outfit is easy to plan.
