Elon, bro, step away from the phone.
His meltdowns have been more and more frequent over the past few months, and it might have all started when Tesla had that terrible weekend at the start of April.
Then he engaged in some weird back and forth with Warren Buffett, much of which played out on Twitter, and some real alarm bells rang.
Next up was Elon appearing at the Met Gala with Canadian musician Grimes, now confirmed as his other half, and we thought that would spell the end of the Twitter tirades.
Incorrect answer buzzer noise, because he saved his ‘best’ work for the past 24 hours, engaging in some truly odd rants against media outlets that had written articles critical of his companies.
Sounds like he’s taking a leaf out of the Donald’s book, innit? Some of those tweets:
This even caught the attention of Donald Jr., arguably the dumbest of all the Trump children:
And then Musk went all in:
CNBC with more:
Pravda, which means truth in Russian, was the name of the official paper of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union…
Musk referred to a research note from Baird analyst Ben Kallo published Wednesday morning, which said the media landscape may have become saturated with “increasingly immaterial” negative reports about Tesla, and that the shares could climb if and when Tesla executes on its goals.
It also comes days after reviewer Consumer Reports decided not to recommend the Tesla Model 3 midsize sedan, after it found the vehicle had the longest stopping distance of any contemporary car it has tested.
Basically, he didn’t like some reports and he went on the attack.
Vanity Fair has been less than impressed with the whole thing:
Under pressure from Wall Street and facing a torrent of negative headlines, beleaguered mega-billionaire Elon Musk mounted a concerted Twitter campaign against the media on Wednesday…
Musk’s Twitter meltdown, in which he decried reporters’ stories as fake news intended to sabotage his businesses, follows the publication of an investigation last month from Reveal, the editorial arm of the nonprofit Center for Investigative Reporting, which included multiple reports of safety issues at Tesla factories brushed under the rug by management…
When a ProPublica reporter defended Reveal on Wednesday, Musk retorted, “[T]hey’re just some rich kids in Berkeley who took their political science prof too seriously.”
Let’s just remember that Musk’s father, Errol, said this about his son:
“I drove them to school in a convertible Rolls-Royce Corniche, they had thoroughbred horses to ride and motorbikes at the age of 14,” he said. “They were spoilt, I suppose. Maybe that’s why Elon is acting like a spoilt child now.”
Then again, he also fathered a child with his own stepdaughter, so the jury’s out on him.
Like many before him, Elon might just need to step away from social media when he’s in a foul mood. Going off on the press and screaming ‘fake news’ might get you elected president, but most of the intelligent world won’t be won over.
At least Elon has that $50 000 iPhone headed his way.
Also, is it too soon to talk about a couples name for Musk and Grimes? I saw ‘Grusk’ online and I think we have a winner.
