Back in 2001, Björk wore that swan dress to the Oscars and people went wild.
Perhaps that set in motion her gradual withdrawal from the public eye, because other than videos of her attacking people at airports she has kept a somewhat low profile.
In fact, she hasn’t performed a song live on telly for a full eight years, although that changed when she appeared on Later… With Jools Holland yesterday.
Rolling Stone called the performance ‘stunning’, but I will just go with ‘interesting’.
Sing us a song, Björk:
Music is subjective, and Björk is an artist, but that was certainly ‘out there’.
She then performed a second, more sombre track:
That was described as follows:
The woodwinds lent the song an airy touch, bolstering Björk’s vocals in a wholly unique way that still recalled the saxophone melange on the original tune.
And now you know.
Good news for fans – on May 25, she’ll release a “three-track remix EP featuring re-workings of album cut “Arisen My Senses” from Jlin, Kelly Lee Owens and Lanark Artefax”.
