Spoilt by years of prolific songwriting and global chart success, Ard Matthews’ fans spend their life wondering when the ‘next album’ is coming out.
It’s a tough trend to maintain, but somehow he does it. That takes skills, sure. But it takes very special skills to keep reinventing your sound as you go, instead of rehashing the past hits.
This latest single, ‘Impossible Machines’, is no exception. It’s a play on words and an ode to Tom Cruise’s movie franchise Mission Impossible – which is why we see Ard riding a motorcycle throughout the video.
Just a little joke…
With the biggest response to a single since the chart-topping ‘What He Means‘, you need to listen to this track and watch the music video.
What’s more, it looks like a bit of a shoutout to the good people of Kommetjie – just around the corner from Hout Bay, where it is said he lives in a castle with turrets and butlers. We like it a lot.
‘Impossible Machines’ is the first single off Ard’s second solo album, which is due for release mid-June – shot by Dale ‘Ducky’ Staples and edited by Richard ‘Flare’ Hughes.
Feast your eyes on this visual delight:
Well played, sir.
We have no doubts that the rest of the album will be just as top notch.
