Foodies love to write reviews for TripAdvisor and Yelp, customers love a rant on Hellopeter, and Uber users are all about rating their drivers.
Now change is a’coming to how the latter happens, with Uber sending out a release earlier this week.
Ever have that feeling, mid-trip, like you’re vibing with your driver, and want to pop them a five-star? Usually you would have to wait until you’ve touched down at your destination, but that’s about to change.
Via their press release yesterday:
…we’re introducing the ability to rate, compliment, tip, and share feedback during your ride — and doing more with the feedback you share with us.
When you’re having a great ride, let us know by adding a compliment, thank you note, or tip. Your positive feedback will be used to recognize [sic] top quality drivers and encourage continued outstanding service through a new program launching in June.
And if you notice something that needs improvement, we’ll go beyond just sharing this with drivers. We’ll use your feedback to improve our technology by analyzing rides with issues around things like “navigation” and “pickups” to identify unsolved technical problems.
This may seem like a small change but it’s just the beginning of our investment in products and policies that make the Uber experience better in the key areas riders care about most.
Don’t stress, those who aren’t keen on the mid-trip rating. If you’d rather not rate or tip a driver while you’re in the car, but would rather wait until you’re out, that’s still possible.
Fun drinking game – when you’re at the bar, make whoever has the lowest Uber rating buy the next round.
Open app, click the three bars in the top left of the app, and voila – there under your name is your Uber customer rating, as given by drivers.
Then Uber home, safe in the knowledge that you’re not going to end up in the slammer, and charm your way to a five-star rating from your driver.
