Oh, Jeremy, you’ve had yourself a right shocker.
Just last week we were chatting about Steakgate, the incident that saw the BBC can Clarkson and eventually scrap Top Gear.
That was back in the news because Clarkson was gearing up to host Who Wants to be a Millionaire?, and that’s exactly what he did.
Let’s just say it didn’t really go to plan for Jeremy or contestant Alan Horsburgh, who was trying to land himself a cool £32,000 (R533 000).
He thought he had, too, because the host of the show put his foot in his mouth in a spectacularly embarrassing illustration of why he shouldn’t be given a job like this.
It’s worth easing into this one, although if you’re strapped for time you can jump ahead to 3:10 for the money shot:
I can’t help but feel for Alan there, because he genuinely thought he had won the cash, only to have it yanked away when Clarkson realised his folly.
Goodbye money, hello brief stint in the limelight thanks to that gaffe.
Perhaps Clarkson will hold his tongue in the other six episodes, which he is hosting as part of a celebration of the show’s 20th anniversary.
Nowhere near as cool as the coolest cat to ever appear on the show, is he?
