Breaking news – animals are dangerous.
You’d think that went without saying, but over the past while we’ve seen plenty of video footage to suggest otherwise.
There was that attack in Limpopo, which ended with Shamba being shot (RIP, homey), and then Cara Delevingne’s latest ad campaign dropped and it was another case of playing with fire.
Both of those pale in comparison when compared to the sheer idiocy of a French family in the Netherlands, who decided that they would just somme hop out of their car with their young children in tow.
Filmed by a nearby car at the Beekse Bergen safari park just south of Tilburg, the real action kicks in around the two-minute mark:
Yeah, stroll around holding your child in front of a coalition of cheetahs and you deserve a good skrik.
Side note – yes, coalition is the collective noun for cheetahs.
Business Insider SA with the safari park’s response:
Beekse Bergen manager Niels de Wildt told Dutch radio station NOS the group had been incredibly lucky, not least of all that the cheetahs are well fed.
Signs in various languages advise visitors not to get out of their vehicles.
Lawyer Fabian David told Business Insider Netherlands the park may have an obligation to not only draw up rules, but to ensure that they are enforced. Especially when people do not realise how dangerous cheetahs can be, or how fast they can move.
That’s the definition of hand-holding right there.
On with the day.
