There’s a way you can use the term ‘black and white’ without racial connotations, and then there’s a way to use the term that makes it clear what you’re up to.
Or, like Judge Russ Fagg, you can just scream ‘non-white people are criminals’ from the rooftop.
Fagg is running for a Republican seat in Montana, and his latest campaign ad is another example of how emboldened blatant racists have become since Donnie D landed the White House gig.
Here’s that advert via his Twitter account:
As a District Court Judge, Russ Fagg has seen the best & the worst of humanity. Russ is the only candidate who has taken action to ensure criminal illegal immigrants are deported. He agrees with @realDonaldTrump that it’s time to protect our borders #MTPol #MTSen #SecureTheBorder pic.twitter.com/uKkuwta9tF

He’s definitely part of that ‘build the wall’ crowd then, innit.
Fagg is running against Troy Downing, amongst other people, for the Republican seat to challenge the incumbent senator John Tester, a Democrat, in November.
Given that Trump flipped Montana in a landslide victory in the 2016 elections, it’s clear that these are simple folk.
Downing went with the military angle, whilst landing a few body blows against the current senator:
I’m surprised Goose or Maverick didn’t pop up at some point.
This is what American voters are enticed by? Heavens above.
Back to Fagg and his obviously racist advert, which really isn’t out of character given some of his prior outbursts.
VICE reports on his take on the Ferguson protests against police brutality:
“In Ferguson, property was destroyed, looting was rampant, lives endangered, and chaos reigned. (As an aside, I did hear of all the things stolen, not one pair of work boots was stolen.)”
And there’s this:
In the rest of that column [from where the Ferguson quote comes], weirdly, he praises Judge G. Todd Baugh as a “wonderful person.” At the time Baugh had caused a national uproar when he sentenced a teacher to 30 days in prison for raping a 14-year-old girl who later committed suicide. The girl, Baugh said during sentencing, was “older than her chronological age.”
Family Man. American values. Definitely backed Roy Moore.
He really is riding that Trump bandwagon:
We should also mention this astounding advert coming out of West Virginia, where Don Blankenship cooly rattled off the term ‘China people’ like it was no biggie.
This from the guy who publicly claimed to be ‘Trumpier than Trump’.
The good news is that Don lost, the bad news is that he reportedly picked up votes after that advert above went live, leading to appearances on the likes of Fox News.
We have our own political messes to deal with, but America really ain’t doing its reputation any favours at the moment.
