Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding day is drawing nearer and nearer. No one’s probably more excited than the happy couple – except, maybe, the people who are placing outrageous bets on the big day.
After the couple’s engagement was announced, royal enthusiasts in the UK have been placing bets in order to get some cold-hard cash. The Huffington Post reports that betting companies like Paddy Power, William Hill and Ladbrokes are taking wagers on anything and everything related to the wedding.
That includes who’s on the guest-list, what the weather forecast will be like, who’s designing Markle’s wedding dress, and even the colour of Queen Elizabeth’s hat (I repeat: the COLOUR. Of. Queen. Elizabeth’s. HAT) are all being gambled on.
Take a look at Paddy Power’s guest list bets:
There are 1-2 odds that Prince Harry’s ex-girlfriend Chelsy Davy will be there, while Markle’s Suits love interest Patrick Adams is on 1-100 odds.
Goodness knows how Robert Mugabe made it on there.
Ladbrokes published its betting odds for performers in March ― Elton John (1-5), Spice Girls (5-6), Stormzy (4-1) and Liam Payne (25-1). Not that I’m a gambler or anything, but I’m personally holding out for a Spice Girls reunion.
No odds on whether Harry will be ripped for the big day, but he’s certainly picked a fancy enough gym to get him into shape.
Even the location of Prince Harry’s stag-do has got the bookies in a tizz. William Hill is already getting a slice of that action, setting the odds and favourites for that category: Switzerland is in the lead at 6-4 and Scotland is at 5-2 (although he may have had a low-key party already, just like his big brother Prince William did before his wedding).
No doubt that fans of the royal family and bookies alike will be glued to their television screen on May 19.
I can’t wait either – the Queen’s hat colour has already got me dying with curiosity.
