Thanks to Instagram’s new in-app payments feature, you can now get more out of the app apart from likes.
The payments feature, which was quietly added, allows users to add either a credit or debit card as part of a profile, as well as a pin for that extra bit of security.
Once you’ve finished setting it up, you can start shopping to your heart’s content – and that’s without having to leave the app itself! Right now, booking appointments at spas and restaurants are the only services available (boo), but other influencers and businesses will probably want to get in on the action soon enough.
Before you get excited, the feature’s not accessible just yet – it’s currently in its testing phase and is accessed only by select users.
The idea of a payments feature is nothing new. The Verge explained that the feature appears to be “a continuation of Instagram’s plans from March 2017 to give business profiles the option to let users book services”.
It was supposed to be rolled out later that year, but evidently that sure didn’t happen.
Ah well, better late than never right?
