I’m not big on this new trend of grandiose prom proposals, and over in America you’ll find the biggest culprits.
Now it’s one thing to put together an elaborate proposal that enlists the help of friends, with the hope of going viral, but it’s quite another to hold up a sign that shows off what a complete and utter moron you are.
Take for example Noah Crowley, who went with the sign approach. Really, Noah?
Yes, the 18-year-old’s girlfriend did post this photo to Snapchat with two ‘heart-eye’ emojis.
Maybe they deserve each other. One thing is for sure – neither of these two would survive a prom in Manenberg.
The student from Riverview High School in Sarasota, Florida, is doing his best to backtrack, but that’s not going so well.
Huff Post SA reports:
A Florida high school student whose offensive “promposal” went viral for all the wrong reasons won’t be going to prom or graduation…
Crowley’s parents released a statement to HuffPost on Tuesday afternoon saying their son will not be attending any school activities for the rest of the year…
On Sunday, Crowley issued his own statement claiming he wanted “to sincerely apologize [sic] if I have offended anyone with the picture going around.”
“Anyone who knows me or ***** [name redacted] knows that that’s not how we truly feel. It was a completely [sic] joke and it went too far. After reading the texts and Snapchat’s [sic] I truly see how I have offended people and I’m sorry.”
Props to the fellow student who called him out on Facebook, saying “”Man save that apology … you meant what you posted!”
If Noah had done any homework, he would have known that this wouldn’t end well. This prom sign from last year also went viral:
Who wants to have a guess where the students holding that sign live? Go on, do it.
Ding ding ding – also Florida.
Stupid is as stupid does.
You know what else grinds my gears? Those prom proposals that rope celebrities in. Hey Jennifer Lawrence, this prom proposal went viral and if you don’t accept, you’ll look like a terrible person.
God, I don’t even like invites to things that come from my own friends.
