“All around me are familiar faces…”
If there had to be a soundtrack for a Reddit user’s solo birthday party, it would have to be Gary Jules’ cover version “Mad World” on repeat. In saying that, Donnie Darko would have to be playing, muted, on the television everyone seems to be looking at.
Although most of us like to celebrate our days of birth with friends and alcohol in tow, The_Argentine_Pace uploaded an image of a living room and kitchen filled with people hanging out.
At first glance, you might not realise why it was shared in the /r/funny subreddit. But then, upon closer inspection, you realise that, well, each individual is the same person:
“Yesterday was my birthday so I threw myself a party,” he captioned the digital art piece.
The “digital art piece” below:
Sausage fest? Yup, he could have worn a wig or something.
But we can forgive him; it took him seven hours to create the work of art, reports TIME:
In response to comments, he explained his process further, noting that it took “quite a while.” “I used my phone and it can take a picture by audio, so I’ll say something and it takes the picture,” he continued. He changed clothes and positions for each shot, which is what gives the image its verisimilitude.
He added that he’s not very good at Photoshop, so instead used Photodirector and the old-school standby MS Paint; all in, the editing took “about 7 hours.” That’s dedication.
What an appropriate homage to pay yourself.
Now, for the music:
If you’re a Tears for Fears fan, then you can blast that version. I guess.
