Look, everyone likes to snack on their own treats during lunch-time, and that’s their right.
If you work in an office, though, the communal fridge can sometimes come to resemble a war-zone. It’s one thing to forget about a piece of fruit that goes off and causes a little stench, but it’s quite another to be a serial offender.
Your boiled eggs are healthy, and I applaud that you’re looking after your body (it’s a temple), but isn’t there some kind of unspoken ‘office – boiled egg’ decorum?
And don’t even get me started on Redro fish paste, lathered on a sloppily wrapped sarmie and popped in the midst of the rest of the lunches. I’ve seen this with my own eyes, and I am forever scarred.
This is all pre-2oceansvibe days, mind you, because we don’t have to worry about this potential tension-booster.
Tucked inside the fourth floor of 113 Loop Street, in the heart of Cape Town’s CBD, is a catering company like no other.
Experts in creating high calibre food for any occasion, Source Food does something out of the norm for companies with a similar mandate: they have created a unique restaurant menu, available only to those who share the building with them.
You see, Source Food has made itself at home in the Inner City | Ideas Cartel office block and, changing up the menu every so often to keep things fresh, offers members the chance to order breakfast and lunch.
The menu is available on the Cartel House app, which was created by another co-working partner, MADE Agency, who are a multidisciplinary, digital inspired creative agency “hell bent on changing the advertising landscape”. Once you have ordered what you want from the menu, the food gets delivered to their workspace – whether that’s a hot desk or private office space.
A snapshot of Source Food’s catering portfolio gives you a peek at what’s in store:
Gorgeous, is it not? Wait until you see the menu.
For members, all you have to do is simply tap the “Order Food & Drinks” button on the Cartel House app, and select what you feel like eating. The process update will then be pushed through to your phone, keeping you up to date with your order until it lands on your desk.
Convenient? Check. Healthy? Double check. Affordable? You know it – a sample of the lunch menu below:
As simple as that.
A look at the Buddah Bowl and Steak Sandwich, just to set the tummy rumbling:
If you’re unsure, let us suggest the German hot dog in a crispy pretzel roll with mustard mayo, sauerkraut, pickles and a side of coleslaw:
Seriously, it’s so damn good.
Source Food isn’t the only company thriving at IC | IC, because there are more than 200 members who work within a range of different businesses. If networking is your thing, this is the place to do it.
Over and above access to the building and what it has to offer, there’s a separate lifestyle offering from Cartel House where you can meet, eat, work, work out, sleep and play all in one.
It’s called the Cartel House Membership which, for only R1 000 a month, will give you a range of perks, from free gym classes to discounts on manicures, Lock Stock & Barrel and Blokes Wash.
You can read all about that here.
Email Cartel House to get the application process started, and you could be eating off Source Food’s delicious menu with a few taps of a button.
