Who would have thought that, after all these years, it would be Kensington Palace that would give us the lowdown on Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding invites via Twitter, of all things:
“The invitations follow many years of Royal tradition and have been made by Barnard Westwood. They feature the Three-Feathered Badge of the Prince of Wales printed in gold ink.”
Along with that comment, Kensington Palace also posted an image of the invite for all the world to see, especially for those of us who won’t be receiving one.
And yes, they are gorgeous:
Around 600 people have been invited to the service and the luncheon on May 19, the former taking place at St. George’s Chapel, while the latter will be hosted by the Queen at St. George’s Hall, and both at Windsor Castle, reports PEOPLE.
The Prince of Wales “request[ed] the pleasure of the company” of the guests to the ceremony, and will host around 200 guests at a private reception at Frogmore House on the castle grounds later in the evening.
Furthermore, Kensington Palace indulged us with an explanation about how the invitations were made, sharing details and a short video:
Using American ink on English card, the invitations are printed in gold and black, then burnished to bring out the shine, and gilded around the edge. pic.twitter.com/gQpC6tDot0
