You know how you know when Donald Trump has gone off script? Well, when he stops making any sense, for a start.
Trump travelled to western Pennsylvania on Saturday night to offer his support for Rick Saccone, a Republican battling to win a House special election on Tuesday.
He spent more than an hour in front of the podium, and sources familiar with the script he was given say he took the liberty of speaking off the cuff for the majority of that hour.
Yup, that’s when the real zingers happen. CNN have listed 64 ridiculous quotes, but we’ll limit ourselves to 10.
If you’re unsure what the hell he is talking about, you wouldn’t be alone:
“President Moon of South Korea said without Donald Trump, the Olympics would have been a total failure. That’s true. True.”
“He’s a sleeping son of a bitch.”
This is a sentence from the President of the United States. (He’s talking about “Meet the Press” host Chuck Todd.)
“A certain anchor on CNN … fake as hell CNN, the, fake as hell CNN, the worst, so fake, fake news.”
“Did you see the other day, 96% of what they do, all I do is good stuff, the economy is the best it’s ever been.”
“And Maxine Waters, a very low IQ individual. She’s a low IQ individual. She can’t help it.”
Not for nothing: Waters is an African-American woman. And, yes, Trump is well aware of that fact.
So: Trump is suggesting that the reason Waters criticizes [sic] him is because she is dumb and can’t help herself. Yes, that’s it.
“But you like me? I think so, right? I like you, too. I love you.”
“I’ve got all the big builders, the best ones in the world. I know the best builders. We want to use the good builders, not the bad ones.”
“When your daughter walks home. And they don’t use guns. You never saw guns. The NRA happens to be very good people, by the way.”
“But you’d be so bored because I could stand up, right? I’m very presidential.”
“One of the greatest nights in the history of television in terms of people watching.”
This is Trump talking about election night 2016. And the way he describe it as a great night of television. Which tells you a lot. Hell, it tells you everything.
What a guy, hey?
Fox News put together what they called a highlights reel, and it’s quite a thing:
Someone should have asked him about uranium.
